General Characteristics of the Soundproofed Enclosed Generator Set
Diesel Engine: It shall be at least 6 cylinders, turbocharged type, developing its power at 1,500 rpm, and capable of supporting a 10% overload under the following climatic conditions:

Maximum humidity: 100%
The lubrication of the entire engine, with the exception of the water pump and possibly the injection pump, shall be ensured automatically by a gear pump.
Oil Filters: of the "full flow" type shall be arranged in series at the start of the lubrication circuit.
Cooling Circuit: the oil discharged by the lubrication pump will pass through the refrigeration system, which shall be protected from possible cold overpressures by an automatic bypass system.
Cooling Water Pump: the cooling shall be of the radiator type. A centrifugal pump shall be arranged at the front on the timing gear case.
Cooling of the turbocharging air shall be provided to lower the supply air temperature.
Injection Pump: One or two monobloc injection pumps shall be arranged laterally. The pump flow rate shall be adjusted by the rotation of the plungers controlled by a rack connected to the governor.
Injectors: The injectors shall be easily removable. The connection of the fuel supply and leak-off pipes to the injector holder shall be done outside the valve covers to prevent dilution of the lubricating oil by diesel in case of pipe rupture or poor tightening of a connection.
Safety Devices:
- An overspeed governor shall cut off the fuel supply to the injection pumps in case of diesel engine runaway.
- Two pressure gauge contacts, mounted respectively on the engine water discharge manifold and on the lubricating oil manifold, allowing detection of lack of oil or water pressure.
Turbocharging: Shall be ensured by an exhaust gas turbocharger. The injection rate shall be adjusted so that there is no significant increase in fuel pressure.
A crossover of the intake and exhaust valves shall be provided to allow scavenging of the chamber so as not to increase thermal stresses.
Accessories: The engine shall be complete with all its accessories, injection pump, injectors, intake and exhaust manifolds, filters, water pumps, oil pump, turbo-blower, air cooler, fuel filters, governor.
Governor: Shall be electronic, sensitive to speed variations and load sensitive, with an adjustable droop adjustment device. Specially adapted for generator set regulation, it shall include:
- A faster, slower motor for speed adjustment, which must be remotely controlled,
A remote shutdown system

The alternator shall be of the brushless type, IP 23, self-ventilated, equipped with a flange bearing, it shall have Class H insulation capable of withstanding a temperature rise of 100°C above ambient temperature.
The exciter, mounted on the shaft end, shall be of the rotating diode type, brushless.
A static regulator allowing maintenance of the voltage within limits of + or - 5% maximum shall be supplied, mounted in the control and monitoring panel.

Chassis:The chassis shall be common to the diesel engine, the alternator, the drive motor and the daily tank integrated into the set.
It shall be composed of steel beams linked together by welded mechanical elements with lifting points and vibration dampers.
Engine and alternator shall be connected by a flexible coupling. Protective grilles shall be provided on the radiator fan, the charging alternator and the engine-alternator coupling.
Safety Devices : The set must be equipped with all the usual safety devices for this equipment, notably:
lack of pre-lubrication,
lack of oil pressure (2 thresholds),
water temperature (2 thresholds),
cooling control,
oil temperature,
overspeed.
Safety and Control Equipment
A fuel tank, minimum capacity 10 hours of operation, integrated into the base fixing chassis of the set, equipped with accessories allowing the adaptation of an automatic filling system, and accessories for diesel level control and remote signaling.

The equipment must be supplied in working order and fit for the function for which it is intended; it shall allow:

- Signalling of faults, optical and acoustic with optical memory for no-start, lack of oil pressure, lack of pre-lubrication, excessive water temperature, excessive oil temperature, overspeed. Failure to start on the first attempt must be signalled so that a check can take place,
